Cinergy Buys 52 Mini-turbines from Capstone
LCG, Aug. 21, 2000--Cinergy Corp. of Cincinnati has ordered 52 microturbines from Capstone Turbine Corp. as part of its agreement as one of Capstones major U.S. distributors, the turbine manufacturer said this morning in a press release."Cinergy has shown great leadership in forward-thinking, global approaches to power generationand delivery," said Dr. Ake Almgren, Capstone president and chief executive. "Their management has made it clear that they perceive the Capstone Microturbine to be the best value today for reliable, low-emission onsite power generation and, frankly, we agree." James E. Rogers, Cinergys chief executive, said "The Capstone Microturbine is a major development in ultra-low-emission, ultra-low-maintenance power generation. These systems are about the size of a large refrigerator and are intended to have virtually the same set-it-and-forget operation profile."Our short-term plans are to deploy these systems using crafted energy solution programs forcustomers that have an immediate need for small capacity additions, high power quality and highreliability. We expect, in time, distributed resources like the Capstone Microturbine will reduce peak-demand strain on the electric grid."
