LCG, April 15, 2026--Suniva announced yesterday that it has entered agreements to bring a state-of-the-art 4.5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility to Laurens, South Carolina. The new facility, combined with Suniva’s existing facility at its headquarters in metro Atlanta, will bring the company’s total annual domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity to over 5.5 GW.

LCG, April 13, 2026--The EIA today released an "In-brief Analysis" of U.S. coal-fired generating capacity retirements in 2025. A highlight of the analysis is that, during 2025, the electric power sector retired 2.6 GW of coal-fired generating capacity at four power plants, which is (i) the least since 2010 and (ii) 5.9 GW less than the planned retirement of 8.5 GW at the beginning of 2025.

Massachusetts OKs Southern Union Acquisitions
LCG, Sept. 11, 2000Southern Union Co. said on Friday that the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy has approved its acquisitions of Fall River Gas Co. and Providence Energy Corp.According to the company, all other required approvals have been granted and both transactions are expected to close by the end of the month, after necessary paperwork has been completed."The receipt of the Massachusetts approvals marks the final step in consummating these excitingmergers," said Peter H. Kelley, president and chief operating officer of Southern Union Company. "Southern Union is looking forward to implementing its technology-based customer service initiatives in these service territories." James Dodge, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Providence Energy, said "The approval by the MDTE represents the final regulatory approval necessary to bring our merger with Southern Union to completion. We can now move forward to finalize this transaction, which we expect toclose by the end of September, and begin our exciting new role as their New England hub."The MDTE also issued an order approving the merger into Providence Energy of its wholly owned subsidiary North Attleboro Gas Co., which serves about 3,800 customers in Massachusetts, near the Rhode island border. That action cleans up the bill of sale for Southern Union's purchase.Southern Union said its pending acquisition of Valley Resources Inc. had been approved by the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers and is expected to close on September 20.The three acquisitions will add about 300,000 customers for Southern Union, making it, in the company's words, "one of the fifth largest natural gas distributors in the nation."
