Donald B. Allen has been assigned by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as senior resident inspector at Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station, a nuclear power plant operated by TXU Texas Utilities Electric Co. near Glen Rose, Texas. He joined the NRC in 1996 as a project engineer in Region IV offices, Arlington, Texas, and most recently was resident inspector at Diablo Canyon nearSan Luis Obispo, Calif.

Leonard Cline has been assigned by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant operated by Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. in Lusby, Md. He joined the NRC as a reactor engineer in the Region I office in September 1999 and was most recently a reactor inspector in the performance evaluation branch in the region's Division ofReactor Safety.

Simon De Bree of The Netherlands has been elected a director of Entergy Corp. De Bree retired in 1999 as chief executive of DSM, a highly integrated group of companies active in the field of life science products, performance materials, polymers, and industrial chemicals, with total revenues of $8 billion per year.

Michael J. Egan, an executive vice president of Exelon Corp. and president of its Exelon Enterprises unit, resigned effective Wednesday, following an extended leave of absence for personal reasons. Gregory Cucchi will continue as acting president of Exelon Enterprises, a role assumed during Egan's leave of absence which began in May.

Marsha S. Johnson has been named vice president of Alabama Power Co. in charge of its Birmingham Division. A 15-year veteran of The Southern Co., she has been vice president for customer services of its Alabama Power unit for about a year.

PPL Corp. Names Director, Key Appointments
PPL Corp. has announced four key appointments which "will further strengthen PPL's executive management team as we prepare for the retirement of Frank Long, who has dedicated nearly four decades to building high-performing PPL organizations," according to chief executive William F. Hecht.

  • Larry De Simone has been named executive vice president for supply, with responsibility for generation and marketing.

  • John Biggar, executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named to the PPL Corp. board of directors.

  • Paul Champagne has been named president of PPL EnergyPlus, the company's wholesale and retail marketing operation.

  • Roger Petersen has been named president of PPL Global, the subsidiary that identifies and develops growth opportunities for PPL Corp. and operates its international businesses.
