LCG, May 19, 2026--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced the signing of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) for the 199.5-MW Big Horn I wind project in Klickitat County, Washington. This agreement represents the fourth PPA executed by the two companies for projects in the Pacific Northwest.

LCG, May 18, 2026--The U.S. Secretary of Energy today issued an emergency order to address critical grid reliability issues in the Midwest anticipated this summer. The order is in effect beginning on May 19, 2026, through August 16, 2026. The emergency order directs the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), in coordination with Consumers Energy, to ensure that the J.H. Campbell coal-fired power plant (Campbell Plant) in West Olive, Michigan shall take all steps necessary to remain available to operate and to minimize costs for the region.

Cold Snap Leads to Outage for Floridians
LCG, Jan. 10, 2002--Customers of Florida Power, the Kissimmee Utility Authority and the Orlando Utilities Commission in central Florida reacted to record cold by turning on their heat this morning, only to find that the transmission lines providing power had been put out of commission by the power surge.In total, approximately 20,000 customers were without power due to outages at key points in the transmission system. Power plant capacity would have been sufficient to handle the demand, had the lines not gone out between 7 and 8 AM. Power was restored to residents after 9 AM.Craig Eicher, Florida Power spokesman compared the situation to what might happen in an individual's home. "It's like you turned everything in your home on all at one time," he said, referring to residents' reaction to record low temperatures, which reached 25 degrees in Orlando Wednesday. Sporadic outages have been attributed to equipment problems in the Florida Power terrritory.Record demand for power accompanied the plunge in temperatures in the Kissimmee Utility Authority service territory, surpassing demand during a record-inducing heat wave last August.
