LCG, November 6, 2025--X-energy Reactor Company, LLC, (X-energy) and the U.S. Office of Nuclear Energy today announced the start of confirmatory irradiation testing at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to qualify X-energy’s proprietary TRISO-X fuel pebbles for commercial use in the Xe-100 Small Modular Reactor (SMR). NextEra Energy and Google Collaborate on Accelerating Nuclear Power Deployment

LCG, October 28, 2025--NextEra Energy and Google yesterday announced two agreements that will help meet growing electricity demand from artificial intelligence (AI) with clean, reliable, 24/7 nuclear power and strengthen the nation's nuclear leadership. First, Google signed a new, 25-year agreement for power generated at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa's only nuclear power facility. The 601-MW boiling water reactor unit was shut down in 2020 and is expected to commence operations by the first quarter of 2029, pending regulatory approvals to restart the plant.

Dark Harbor Wind Farm Receives Financing

LCG, May 17, 2005--Western Wind Energy Corporation announced that The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company is prepared to provide CDN$29.7 million of construction and term debt financing for the Dark Harbor Wind Farm, a 20 MW project located in New Brunswick. The balance of the project financing, CDN$8.2 million (excluding a letter of credit of CDN$1.5 million for the debt service reserve account), will be obtained by way of a private placement of the equity of Western Wind Energy Corporation.

The wind project is one of many renewable energy projects that the Canadian provinces are pursuing to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and the corresponding production of greenhouse gases. The Province of Ontario has committed to closing 7,600 MW of coal-fired generating capacity, and last month closed the 1,140-MW, coal-fired Lakeview Generating Station as a step towards reduced emissions. Another supply strategy under consideration is the reactivation of mothballed, nuclear power plants, such as Units 1 and 2 at the Bruce A nuclear generating station in Kincardine.
