LCG, June 10, 2026--Calpine, a business unit of Constellation, announced early this week the completion of a 25 MW expansion project at The Geysers geothermal complex located in Sonoma County, California. The addition builds on Calpine's continued investments in The Geysers to support California's renewable energy goals and to provide reliable, around-the-clock renewable power as the demand for clean electricity continues to grow.

What Would Don Quixote Do?
LCG, February 28, 2006--The electric generating capacity from wind farms is growing at a phenomenal rate around the world. With 11,769 MW of new installed capacity from wind farms, the global capacity increased 43.3% in 2005, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) recently announced that the U.S. added over 2,400 MW of wind turbine generating capacity in 2005. On a global basis, the total value of new generating equipment installed exceeded $14 billion. GE Energy, one of the primary suppliers of turbines, announced yesterday that it delivered 1,346 wind turbines worldwide in 2005 and that its revenue exceeded $2 billion, representing an increase of over 200% relative to the prior year's total. In the U.S., the development of wind generating capacity is becoming more attractive due for a number of reasons, including higher fuel and emission costs for natural gas-fired and coal-fired power plants and government policies that set renewable portfolio standards or provide financial incentives, such as the extension of the federal wind-energy production tax credit (PCT) in 2005.
