LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

PGE and PacifiCorp Execute MOU to Develop Transmission Line for Wind Power
LCG, August 4, 2010--Portland General Electric (PGE) and PacifiCorp announced that they executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) effective July 22, 2010 to discuss the joint development and construction of the Cascade Crossing, a 210-mile, double-circuit 500 kV transmission line designed to transport more wind power from remote areas in the Northwest to load centers in Oregon. Given timely permit approvals, construction could occur between 2013 and 2015.
PGE senior vice president for customer service and delivery stated, "The need for more transmission is regional, so it makes sense to consider partnering with multiple utilities to share the line....This potential partnership would bring Oregon's two largest investor-owned utilities together to help meet the state?s growing energy needs, enable the development of more renewable power projects in Oregon, and enhance reliability of the region?s electrical grid."
The Cascade Crossing transmission line would extend approximately 210 miles from Boardman, Oregon (located in north-central Oregon along the state border with Washington) to the vicinity of Salem, in western Oregon. The project is estimated to cost $610 million to $825 million, including new or upgraded substations and interconnections.
PacifiCorp will receive 600 MW of bidirectional transmission capacity on Cascade Crossing, and PGE will receive the balance of the remaining bidirectional capacity on Cascade Crossing, which is estimated to be 2100 MW (but no less than 1500 MW).
PGE applied to the federal government for permits to cross federal lands and has initiated the application process to receive a site certificate from the Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council.
