Transwestern Gas Pipeline to Operate This Weekend

LCG, June 14, 2002--A pipeline bringing an additional 120 million cubic feet of natural gas from Texas to California will commence operations Saturday, Transwestern Pipeline Co. said yesterday.

Transwestern has sold most of the capacity, 90 percent, under long-term contracts up to 15 years, according to a spokeswoman with the company. Two of these customers are Calpine and Western Gas Resources Inc.

The new addition to Transwestern's system, the $93 million Red Rock pipeline, will give the company an overall capacity of 1.82 billion cubic feet. Transwestern gas goes to California and Arizona utilities, as well as a California border customer, Mojave Pipeline Co.
