LCG, October 16, 2026--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced on Thursday its new proposal to revise and accelerate its review of air quality effects for proposed natural gas projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The draft policy statement highlights revisions designed to (i) avoid unnecessary delays and duplicative analysis and (ii) deliver greater regulatory certainty and a streamlined path forward for project applicants.

LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

Avangrid Completes Construction of New, 120-MW Solar Project in Oregon
LCG, June 2, 2026--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that it has completed construction of its Tower Solar project in Oregon and connected it to the electric grid. Once commissioning activity is complete, the project will deliver energy to Portland General Electric (PGE) and help support QTS operations in the region.
The Tower Solar project is a 166 MWdc (120 MWac) solar facility that includes over 250,000 solar panels assembled by SEG Solar at its Houston manufacturing facility. Tower Solar is located west of Boardman in Morrow County on a site of approximately 900 acres of industrially zoned land owned by the Port of Morrow. Avangrid expects to achieve commercial operation this summer.
The Tower Solar project will deliver electricity to PGE’s grid through Green Future Impact (GFI), a voluntary program designed to help large municipal, commercial, and industrial customers meet their sustainability and carbon reduction goals through the development of new clean energy facilities in the region. PGE’s GFI program lets large customers choose non-emitting energy without increasing costs for other customers. All customers benefit from the energy, but program participants pay the extra cost of the clean energy they select.

Avangrid's announcement states that the Tower Solar is expected to pay approximately $20 million in combined PILOTs (payment in lieu of taxes) and property taxes which will directly support the local community, helping to pay for public services like education.
