LCG, June 10, 2026--Calpine, a business unit of Constellation, announced early this week the completion of a 25 MW expansion project at The Geysers geothermal complex located in Sonoma County, California. The addition builds on Calpine's continued investments in The Geysers to support California's renewable energy goals and to provide reliable, around-the-clock renewable power as the demand for clean electricity continues to grow.

Japan Considers Increased Gas Deregulation
LCG, December 26, 2002A Japanese Economy Ministry group has recommended opening the retail natural gas market to 44% of demand in 2004 and over 50% in 2007.Japan already has made steps to deregulate its retail gas industry since 1995. Currently gas sellers that are not gas utilities can sell retail gas to commercial and industrial users at the rate of about 1 million cubic meters per year, or roughly 37% of all demand.Now a group within the Ministry of Economy has advised a Japanese economic advisory board to allow 44% of natural gas to be sold in a deregulated market starting April 2004, and by April 2007, to deregulate over 50%.Japanese officials have also discussed complete gas deregulation after 2007.An advisory group will meet in January to discuss these suggestions, public commentary will follow, and another meeting will be held in February before any recommendations will be sent to Minister of Trade Takeo Hiranuma.
