Press Release
ERCOT 2019 Summer Quarter Outlook
LCG, May 29, 2019-- LCG released a new summer (June – September 2019) report that looks at how the ERCOT grid copes with strained network conditions. Resource adequacy analysis for the region is especially important during extreme summer loading conditions. This summer the network is under particular scrutiny as the reserves have tightened because of recent retirements.
This report examines a Base Case, a High Generation Outage Case, a Low Wind Case and a High Load Case. It discusses which strained conditions might affect energy prices, Operating Reserve Demand Curve (ORDC), Peaker Net Margin (PNM), and congestion.
LCG performed this study based on hourly dispatch using its proprietary UPLAN Network Power Model and PLATO-ERCOT data model. LCG has been modeling energy systems for more than 30 years and continuously maintains up-to-date information on every detail of the Texas grid, from minor and major transmission upgrades to gas prices and weather patterns.
If you are interested in receiving the full summer quarter outlook, please contact us at julie.chien@energyonline.com. For more in depth analysis, LCG can provide tailored output to include individual generator performance, hourly nodal prices, congestion, and more.
