LCG, April 23, 2026--TerraPower announced today the official start of construction on its Kemmerer Unit 1 nuclear power plant, which could be the first utility-scale advanced nuclear power plant in the United States. In early March, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced that it had authorized the staff to issue a construction permit for Unit 1 commercial nuclear power plant in Kemmerer, Wyoming.

LCG, April 22, 2026--The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) yesterday announced two new, 20-year agreements for a 225 MW/900 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in East Tennessee and for a 200 MW/800 MWh BESS project in northern Alabama. Both projects are planned to commence commercial operations in 2029.

NextEra's Appleseed Solar Project Commences Operations in Indiana
LCG, November 11, 2025--NextEra Energy Resources, together with local officials, today celebrated the recent start of operations at the Appleseed Energy Center, a 200-MW solar facility located in Cass County, Indiana. NextEra Energy Resources expects the completion of the facility will improve grid reliability and support Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC’s (NIPSCO) plans to deliver reliable energy across northern Indiana.
The Appleseed Energy Center, which encompasses approximately 2,000 acres, will be owned and operated by Appleseed Solar, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC. the facility is estimated to contribute approximately $30 million in tax revenue to Cass County over its operational life.
NIPSCO and NextEra Energy Resources have a fixed-price power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Appleseed Energy Center that is designed to ensure stable energy costs and deliver long-term value.
