LCG, August 14, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today that it has awarded Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) $271 million to help support the extended operations of the company's nuclear power facility, Diablo Canyon Power Plant, which is located near Avila Beach, California. Calpine Completes SkyGen Energy Purchase

LCG, Oct. 19, 2000--Calpine Corp. said yesterday it had completed the purchase of Northbrook, Ill.-based SkyGen Energy from its founder, Michael Polsky, and from Wisvest Corp., an affiliate of Wisconsin Energy Corp.

The acquisition, which cost Calpine $450 million plus the assumption of debt, will increase Calpine's natural gas-fired, modern power generation fleet by up to 13,500 net megawatts of capacity in key strategic power markets throughout the U.S., including a strong portfolio of cogeneration facilities with long-term power sales agreements.

Calpine also gets 34 General Electric 7 FA gas turbines to power its newly acquired developmentprojects.

Calpine will operate SkyGen as a subsidiary with Polsky as president. Polsky will also join Calpine's board of directors.

As a result of the acquisition Calpine has added to its portfolio three operating facilities, five projects under construction, 10 late-stage development facilities and 16 project development opportunities.
