LCG, January 21, 2026--Sage Geosystems, the company pioneering Pressure Geothermal, today announced that it closed over $97 million in Series B funding to advance its geothermal power generation and energy storage solutions, including its first commercial next-generation geothermal power generation facility. Cleco, Calpine in 20-Year Fuel-for-Power Deal with Aquila
LCG, Oct. 23, 2000--Cleco Corp. and Calpine Corp. announced jointly on Friday they have signed a 20-year contract with Aquila Energy, a subsidiary of UtiliCorp United Inc., for 580 megawatts of the output of their 1,000 megawatt Acadia Power Project currently under construction in Acadia Parish, La.Calpine and Cleco Midstream Resources each have a 50 percent interest in Acadia Power Partners, which owns the 1,000 megawatt combined-cycle plant. Construction on the unit began in July and is on schedule for completion by June 2002.Under the arrangement, called a "tolling agreement" in the trade, Aquila Energy will supply the natural gas needed to generate 580 megawatts of electricity and will own and market the produced power. The agreement goes into effect July 1, 2002.Cleco is the holding company for the former Central Louisiana Electric Co., the utility that started out as an ice house in 1914. The ice house had a 50 kilowatt generator to run its refrigeration equipment and sold a little power on the side. By 1934, that had grown to be Louisiana Ice & Electric Co. and the rest, as they say, is history.
