NRC Renews Operating Licenses for Constellation's Nuclear Reactors at Clinton and Dresden Facilities

LCG, December 16, 2025--The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced today that it has renewed the operating licenses of Constellation LLC’s Clinton Unit 1 in Clinton, Illinois, and Dresden Units 2 and 3, near Morris, Illinois, for an additional 20 years beyond the current expiration dates. The combined capacity of these three, Illinois-based nuclear units is 2,925 MW, and the operating license extension will enable the units to generate carbon-free power through about 2050.

ERCOT Announces Organizational Changes to Promote Grid Reliability, Rapid Demand Growth, and Innovation

LCG, December 12, 2025--Today, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) announced strategic organizational changes designed to accelerate innovation, strengthen grid reliability, and support the unprecedented growth in the demand for electricity across Texas. To meet these objectives, ERCOT created two new organizations: Interconnection and Grid Analysis, and Enterprise Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The two organizations will formally launch in January 2026.

Joe Cofelice has been named chief executive and president of the American National Power subsidiary of Britain's International Power Plc, the global power business of recently demerged National Power. Cofelice, who had been the U.S. unit's chief operating officer, will succeed James Moore, who will be leaving the company.

William M. Cohen will become director of public affairs of ISO New England Inc., effective December 11. Most recently, he was a consultant in public relations and marketing for a Maine-based advertising agency, and had spent 10 years as public affairs director for Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.

C.D. Rappleyea announced this week that he will leave his post as chairman and chief executive officer of the New York Power Authority on January 31. He was appointed a trustee of the Authority in June 1995 and became chairman and CEO a month later.

John G. Russell has been appointed senior vice president for electric transmission and distribution by Consumers Energy Co. A 19-year veteran of the company, he was promoted from vice president with the same responsibilities.

Ellen P. Vancko has been named director of media relations and government affairs by the North American Electric Reliability Council. She most recently was director of policy analysis with Allegheny Energy Inc.

Key Man Retirement Brings Changes to CMS Energy

The early retirement of Victor J. Fryling as president and chief operating officer has prompted changes in the executive suite of CMS Energy Corp.

  • William J. Haener has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer - natural gas.

  • David W. Joos has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operatingofficer - electric.

  • Alan M. Wright has been promoted to executive vice president, chief financial and administrative officer.

CMS Panhandle Pipeline Announces Management Realignment

CMS Energy Corp. has announced that the CMS Panhandle Pipe Line Companies board of directors has approved a reorganization of its senior officers.

  • Christopher A. Helms has been named president and chief executive officer. He was formerly president and chief operating officer.

  • Jeryl L. Mohn has been named senior vice president for operations. He was formerly vice president for operations and engineering.

  • Cynthia C. Albert has been named vice president for regulatory affairs and information systems. She was formerly vice president for capacity management and information systems.

  • Robert O. Bond has been named vice president for optimization. He was formerly executive director of commercial optimization, having joined the company in this new position in February.

  • Richard E. Keyser has been named vice president for operations and engineering. He was formerly general manager of engineering and technical services.

  • Gary W. Lefelar, formerly controller, has been named vice president and controller.

  • Keith M. Meyer has been named vice president for marketing. He was formerly commercial manager of CMS Gas Transmission Co. and vice president of CMS Gas Transmission of Australia.
