OG&E and Google Announce Contract for Three Data Centers in Oklahoma

LCG, April 30, 2026--OG&E, the operating subsidiary of OGE Energy Corp., announced today that it will power three new data centers that Google announced in Muskogee and Stillwater, Oklahoma last year. As part of the agreement, Google will also make power generation capacity available from two solar facilities in Stephens and Muskogee Counties that are currently under construction. The data centers and associated Electric Service Agreements are expected to provide economic growth for local communities and the state, contribute to grid stability, and benefit OG&E's current customers.

Graphic Packaging and NextEra Energy Resources Sign 250-MW Virtual Power Purchase Agreement

LCG, April 29, 2026--Graphic Packaging Holding Company today announced a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with NextEra Energy Resources, LLC. With the VPPA agreement, NextEra Energy Resources plans to build the Selenite Springs Energy Center, a 250-MW solar energy facility in West Texas, and Graphic Packaging will be the sole buyer of the facility's renewable energy attribute certificates. Graphic Packaging, a global provider of sustainable consumer packaging, expects the agreement to cover approximately 43 percent of its 2025 electricity usage in the U.S. and Canada. The agreement will advance Graphic Packaging's commitment to source renewable electricity and reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Jeanne Connelly has joined Calpine Corp. as vice president for federal relations. She moves to the San Jose, Calif.-based power producer from the Washington, D.C., office of Champion International Inc. where she coordinated and executed the government affairs agenda of the big paper company.

James H. Miller, currently an executive vice president of enriched uranium supplier USEC Inc., will join PPL Corp. as president of its PPL Generation subsidiary. An electrical engineer by training, Miller is a veteran of the U.S. nuclear Navy.

Roger Petersen, president of the PPL Montana subsidiary of PPL Corp. has been named by Montana Gov. Judy Martz to a 14-member advisory board set up to advise the governor on energy policy issues. The panel includes representatives from the energy industry, business leaders andformer elected officials.

S. LaNette Zimmerman has been named executive vice president and chief human resources officer by Nisource Inc. She had been interim human resources vice president since last May, as the company completed its merger with Columbia Energy Group. Prior to that, she was vice president for human resources with Chicago Title and Trust Co.

NRC Elects Three to Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has announced the election of three member to its Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, a ten-member panel that advises the commission on the safety aspects of nuclear facilities and the adequacy of safety standards.

  • George E. Apostolakis has been named chairman of the committee. Dr. Apostolakis is a professor of nuclear engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Mario V. Bonaca has been elected vice-chairman. Dr. Bonaca has more than 30 years experience in the nuclear industry.

  • Thomas S. Kress becomes a member-at-large. Dr. Kress worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee from 1959 until his retirement in 1994 and has since remained active in a wide range of disciplines.

Tampa Electric Announces Retirement, Promotions
Tampa Electric Co. and its parent holding company, Teco Energy Inc. have announced several changes in the companies' senior management roster, including one retirement and five promotions.

  • H. I. Wilson, vice president for energy delivery, will retire after 39 years with Tampa Electric.

  • Tom Hernandez, formerly vice president for regulatory affairs with Teco Energy, has been named to replace Wilson and has been promoted to vice president for energy delivery.

  • Dee Brown, formerly director of Regulatory Affairs with Tampa Electric, has been promoted to vice president for regulatory affairs with Teco Energy.

  • Hugh Smith, formerly vice president for energy services and marketing with Tampa Electric, has been promoted to a newly created position, vice president for energy supply trading and services.

  • Spence Autry, formerly vice president for environmental and fuels with Tampa Electric, has been promoted to vice president for customer services and marketing.

  • Johnny Dean Page, formerly assistant to the president of Tampa Electric, has been promoted to vice president for community affairs.
