LCG, May 1, 2025--Holtec International (Holtec) announced the signing on April 29 of a strategic cooperation agreement with the State of Utah and Hi Tech Solutions, a leading nuclear services provider based in Kennewick, Washington, to collaborate in the deployment of Holtec's SMR-300s (small modular reactor) in Utah and the broader Mountain West region. Hi Tech will play a leading role in the project development and workforce training to support the rise of new nuclear power generation in the region.

LCG, April 29, 2025--Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) today outlining the state’s plans to administer programs related to carbon storage wells, known as Class VI wells. The MOA signing is a required step in the RRC’s application to be granted authority to permit Class VI wells in the state of Texas. EPA is currently preparing a proposed approval of RRC’s primacy application.

Brill will retire effective February 28 as vice president for energy supply followingmore than thirty-eight years with Empire District Electric Co. Brill, who has also served as a director of the company since 1989, will retire from the Board on April 25, when his current term expires.Allen Franklin has been named chief executive of The Southern Co., effective March 1. Currently president and chief operating officer of Southern, he replaces A.W. Dahlberg as chief executive and will also retain the title of president. Dahlberg will retire as Southern's chairman with the spin-off of Mirant Corp., formerly Southern Energy, planned for April 2.Gale Klappa will become chief financial officer of The Southern Co., effective March 1, replacing Larry Westbrook, who is retiring after 37 years with the company.Harry J. He most recently was vice president for risk management and pricing with the unit.Ed Wallis, chief executive of Powergen Plc since privatization more than 10 years ago, said he would step down. He will be replaced by Nick Baldwin, an executive director who has run the UK business since February 1998, and has been with Powergen in a number of roles since its formation in 1989.
