During the month of April, more than 20 cities across the state will conduct a series of flag-raising ceremonies and other events to promote the program, beginning with an event on April 2 in Sen. Sibley's hometown of Waco, Texas."The pilot program is designed to give Texans the opportunity to find out how competition forelectric service can work for them," said PUC Chairman Pat Wood. "It also allows the State, the utility companies, and service providers to make sure their computer and billing systems work well before electric choice is fully implemented on January 1, 2002."
