Invenergy Announces New Agreements with Meta for Renewable Energy to Support Data Center Operations

LCG, June 26, 2025--Invenergy today announced that they and Meta Platforms, Inc. have signed four new clean energy agreements that total an additional 791 MW of procured solar and wind capacity to support Meta's near-term operations, data center growth, and clean energy goals.

New York Power Authority to Develop New Nuclear Facility in Upstate New York

LCG, June 23, 2025--The Governor of New York today directed the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and construct an advanced nuclear power plant in upstate New York to deliver zero-emission power that supports a reliable and affordable electric grid. NYPA will lead the effort to develop at least one new nuclear energy facility with a combined capacity of at least one gigawatt (GW) of electricity, either alone or in partnership with private entities. The directive builds on the Governor’s 2025 State of the State to develop nuclear energy plans in New York.

Vicky Bailey, president of PSI Energy Inc., a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp., has been nominated to the U.S. Department of Energy by President Bush and if approved will become Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and Domestic Policy. She has previously served on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Cinergy said it will immediately launch a search for a successor.

Allan L. Edgeworth, currently president of Alliance Pipeline LP, will assume the added responsibilities of chief executive officer, replacing Norman R. Gish who has announced he will leave the Canadian firm.

Diane Fitzgerald has been appointed vice president of environmental affairs by American Electric Power Co. Inc. She has served as director of international environmental affairs since May of last year. Fitzgerald joined AEP in 1984 as a senior performance engineer at its Donald C. Cook nuclear power plant.

W. Mark Hart has been named a senior vice president of NRG Energy and president of its NRG Europe and Latin America units. Before joining NRG, he was vice president of Canadian Operations for Newmont Mining Co. and vice president of business processes and operations for Europe, South America and Asia.

Jack E. Little has been appointed a director of TXU Corp., replacing JamesA. Middleton, who has elected to retire from the board. Little is the former president and chief executive of Shell Oil Co. and Shell Exploration & Production.

William R. Matthews, vice president for nuclear operations with the Dominion Energy unit of Dominion Resources Inc., will become the lead executive at the Millstone nuclear power complex following the close of the purchase of the Connecticut facility from Northeast Utilities.

William A. Smith, an executive vice president of El Paso Corp., will take over leadership of the company's continued development of its liquefied natural gas business. Previously, Smith was executive vice president for corporate development, responsible for the company's capital review process.

Guy J. Turcottehas been appointed chairman of Alliance Pipeline LP, replacing Norman R. Gish who has announced he will leave the Canadian firm. Turcotte is chairman and chief executive of Fort Chicago Energy Management Ltd., the general partner of Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P., the largest shareholder of Alliance Pipeline.

Retirements Bring Changes at Georgia Power
Georgia Power Co. has announced several executive appointments that will become effective May 1, in anticipation of the upcoming retirements of Gene Hodges, executive vice president for customer operations, and Jim Manley, northern region vice president.

  • Mickey Brown has been named senior vice president for distribution and will become a member of the company's management council.

  • Ronnie Bates, vice president for transmission, will also become a member of Georgia Power's management council.

  • Bryan Fletcher has been named vice president for region operations.

  • Ed Holcombe has been promoted to succeed Fletcher as vice president for governmental and regulatory affairs.

  • Chris Hobson has been promoted to vice president for environmental affairs.
