LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

LCG, September 3, 2025--The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and ENTRA1 Energy (ENTRA1) yesterday announced a new agreement to advance nuclear power development within TVA’s service region. Under the agreement, ENTRA1 Energy will collaborate with TVA to deploy six ENTRA1 Energy Plants™, each powered by multiple NuScale Power Modules™, to provide up to 6 GW of firm, 24/7 baseload power.

Construction Begins on Two Michigan Power Plants
LCG, Aug. 7, 2001--Construction has begun on two major power projects in Michigan having a combined generating capacity of nearly 1,500 megawatts, it was announced yesterday.PG&E Corp.'s National Energy Group said it has begun construction of the 1,170 megawatt Covert Generating Plant in southwest Michigan, about 48 miles from Kalamazoo. The natural gas-fueled, combined-cycle facility will be operated as a merchant plant, selling its output into the regional wholesale market, the PG&E unit said.The plant's water demands will be met by a water intake and discharge system being built by Covert on the shores of Lake Michigan. The facility will be owned and operated by the nearby City of South Haven and will be available to serve future drinking water needs of the City and several neighboring townships, PG&E said."Construction of the Covert Generating Plant comes at the end of a long development effort. We'regrateful to the people of Covert Township and neighboring communities for their patience andsupport during this complicated process," said Chris Iribe, president and chief operating officer of the National Energy Group's eastern region.At the same time, DTE Energy Services, a subsidiary of DTE Energy Co., said it began construction on a 320 megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in East China Township, Mich. The plant, which will serve wholesale electricity markets in Michigan and the Midwest, will begin commercial operation in early summer of next year.The peaking facility will use four 80 megawatt combustion turbines operating in simple cycle with its output sold into the wholesale market. DTE said the plant's location will allow interconnection access to the Michigan, Midwest and Ontario markets.
