LCG, April 15, 2026--Suniva announced yesterday that it has entered agreements to bring a state-of-the-art 4.5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility to Laurens, South Carolina. The new facility, combined with Suniva’s existing facility at its headquarters in metro Atlanta, will bring the company’s total annual domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity to over 5.5 GW.

LCG, April 13, 2026--The EIA today released an "In-brief Analysis" of U.S. coal-fired generating capacity retirements in 2025. A highlight of the analysis is that, during 2025, the electric power sector retired 2.6 GW of coal-fired generating capacity at four power plants, which is (i) the least since 2010 and (ii) 5.9 GW less than the planned retirement of 8.5 GW at the beginning of 2025.

Spanish Endesa to Sell Power Unit to Italy's Enel
LCG, Sept. 13, 2001--Spanish electric utility Endesa said yesterday it would sell its New Viesgo electric generation and distribution business to Enel of Italy for 2.147 billion euros ($2.39 billion U.S.).New Viesgo will give Enel a foothold in Spain with a retail customer roster of more than a half-million representing about 3 percent of the Spanish distribution market. Its 2,365 megawatts of installed generating capacity is almost 5 percent of the Spanish total.The financial channel between Endesa and Enel is a two-way street. In July, Endesa agreed to buy Enel's Elettrogen for 2.63 billion euros ($2.93 billion). Endesa has said it will place other assets on the market as part of a program to raise 20.5 billion euros ($22.8 billion).Enel beat out rival bids from Spain's Hidroelectrica del Cantabrico, Belgium's Electrabel and a unit of France's Suez.
