Bellingham Plant Nears Completion

LCG, Feb. 5, 2002--A natural gas-fired, combined cycle plant under construction in Bellingham, Massachusetts, should be operational in the second quarter, American National Power announced.

The plant has been under construction since 2000, and will have a capacity of 570 megawatts. The developer, ANP, is a unit of the independent power producer International Power plc, of the United Kingdom.

ANP is also pursuing development of projects at Brookhaven on Long Island, and Ramapo, in New York's Hudson Valley. Public hearings on the plants are continuing with the state, but ANP expects approval for the 580-megawatt Brookhaven and 1,100-megawatt Ramapo plants.

Brookhaven and Ramapo would likely begin operations by the end of 2004, assuming construction starts by the third quarter of 2002 and the end of 2003, respectively.
