LCG, March 18, 2026--The EIA released a new "In-depth Analysis" of the potential impact of faster-than-expected near-term growth in data center power demand on power generation and wholesale prices on March 12. The analysis models the lower 48 states through 2027 and compares results to its base case scenario. Key takeaway from this sensitivity analysis is the potential increase in fossil fuels in some regions and potentially a significant increase in wholesale prices in ERCOT.

Peruvian Utility Bids Extended Until May
LCG, March 13, 2002-Canadian, Spanish, and Columbian companies have been given until May 30 to bid on electric concessions in Peru.Peru's government, headed by President Alejandro Toledo, is offering investment in four electricity generators in northern and central Peru, hoping to reach $700 million in privatization receipts by the end of the year. Companies have an extra month to bid on stakes in Electro Norte, Electro Norte Medio, Electro Centro, amd Electro Noroeste since Peru's privatization commission has extended its offer from the previous April 23 deadline.
