Boat Collides with Dynegy Gas Storage Facility
LCG, May 9, 2002--A fishing vessel hit the Rough facility in the U.K. North Sea yesterday at 0830 GMT.109 employees were evacuated, 19 stayed to evaluate damages, and no injuries were reported. Dynegy declared a force majeure and has delayed maintenance. The vessel made contact with a platform at the facility, and company spokesmen will not be ready to comment until engineers have inspected the platform and legs, the latter of which will require a diving vessel for parts below the water line. Dynegy's Rough facility has been closed since May 2 for scheduled maintenance and would have opened May 17 again. The facility's gas supply is sufficient to serve the U.K. for thirteen days.
