LCG, August 27, 2025--Wärtsilä Energy announced yesterday an agreement with East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to supply the engineering and equipment for a 217-MW power plant to be constructed in Liberty, Kentucky. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery in mid-2027, and the plant is expected to be commissioned in early 2028.

The MOU establishes a shared commitment to support advanced nuclear technologies to build Utah’s energy future and to prioritize reliability, economic growth and energy abundance.

Italy Utility Violates Antitrust
LCG, June 24, 2002--The Consiglio di Stato, Italy's high court, ruled that Enel SpA must sell generating capacity.Italy's antitrust authority ruled last year that Enel SpA was impeding competition and should sell 20,500 MW of capacity, but the Consiglio di Stato decided that the energy company should only sell 15,000 MW capacity, 5,500 MW less than previously ordered. The court's decision will be made more clear once the court releases its written opinion, which is expected within a month.
