LCG, August 27, 2025--Wärtsilä Energy announced yesterday an agreement with East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to supply the engineering and equipment for a 217-MW power plant to be constructed in Liberty, Kentucky. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery in mid-2027, and the plant is expected to be commissioned in early 2028.

Entergy to Replace Arkansas Nuclear Generators and Reactor Parts
LCG, August 13, 2002-Entergy Corporation announced intentions to upgrade its Arkansas Nuclear Unit 1 in 2005.The company has found boric acid-related corrosion, which resulted in cracked control nozzles in the Arkansas reactor vessel, as was found in the David-Besse nuclear plant earlier this year.Unit 1, which is contracted for operation until 2034, will have both steam generators and the steel reactor lid replaced three years from now, at a cost of roughly $235 million.Arkansas Unit 1 has 836 MW capacity and began operations in 1974.
