OPG Completes Darlington Nuclear Station Refurbishment Project Under Budget and Ahead of Schedule

LCG, February 2, 2026--Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced today that construction on the four-unit Darlington Refurbishment project is now complete. Station staff are completing final testing, and the last unit is expected to return to service in the coming weeks. OPG stated that the overall project is currently four months ahead of schedule and $150 million under budget.

FERC Will Hear Northwest and Western Contract Cases

LCG, September 19, 2002-Yesterday FERC decided that hearings will be held regarding electricity contracts signed by Washington and California utilities.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission hearings will address contracts made by Sacramento, California and Snohomish county, Washington utilities during the 2000/2001 Western energy crisis.

Utilities assert that Duke Energy and American Electric Power Company charged them unreasonably high prices and that contracts should be modified or rewritten.

Already this year several settlements have been made regarding contracts written during the energy crisis, and a hearing has been planned in order to address contracts written by the California Department of Water Resources on behalf of bankrupt California utilities.
