LCG, April 24, 2025--Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) announced yesterday an agreement with Calpine Corporation (Calpine) to transport and permanently store up to 2 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of CO2 from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility located near Houston, Texas. This is part of Calpine’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project that is designed to add CCS for the facility’s CO2 emissions. The Calpine facility could then provide a 24/7 supply of low-carbon electricity to the Texas grid plus steam to nearby industrial facilities.

Judge Calls for Half Year Delay on Enron Case
LCG, January 7, 2003-Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Administrative Law Judge Jeffie Massey has said an additional six months are needed to come to a decision regarding allegations that Enron Corporation manipulated the California energy market.The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Justice Department, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission are investigating Enron's possible part in the Western energy crisis of 2000/2001. While the investigations will result in three separate cases, the agencies have agreed to share data and witnesses.Judge Massey asserts that the Justice Department has withheld access to witnesses and data and is therefore impeding the investigation. She plans to ask for a six month delay in the hope that the Justice Department will allow more access to important information and people.The Justice Department has effectively denied the other agencies access to former Enron trader Timothy Belden, who plead guilty last year to conspiracy regarding market manipultion.Additionally, the Justice Department has a significant number of the records of depositions that were taken by the three agencies together.If the case is delayed, a decision would most likely be issued by December.
