LCG, January 15, 2026--Origis Energy today announced that Meta and the company signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 240-MW (303-MWdc) Greyhound A Solar project in West Odessa, Texas. The Greyhound A Solar project is scheduled to achieve commercial operations by mid-2026.

LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

Missouri Plant Expands by 100 Megawatts
LCG, Apr. 25, 2003--Two peaking units were declared operational at the Empire Energy Center this week, bring an additional 100 megawatts online in southwest Missouri.The plant manager, Joe Simmons said of the two gas-fired Pratt & Whitney FT8 units that they "are our most efficient simple-cycle units and will give us significant flexibility in our operating model." The Empire District Electric Company, an investor-owned utility with service territory in southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma, and northwest Arkansas, owns the plant.The technology of the FT8 is based on that found in the similar JT8D turbine, which is used in aircraft. The overall cost of installation for Units 3 and 4, with ground-breaking having taken place July 31, 2002, was put at approximately $55 million.
