LCG, July 27, 2026--Ameren Missouri, a subsidiary of Ameren Corporation, today announced plans to build the West Alton Energy Center, a combined-cycle natural gas-fired facility. The 2,100-MW power generation facility is designed to provide reliable, around-the-clock baseload power for customers while keeping costs low. Ameren anticipates a completion date of 2031, pending regulatory approval.

800-MW New England Plant Comes On Line
LCG, July 31, 2003Exelon Generations Fore River plant began operations today. The 800-megawatt natural gas-fired combined cycle generating station was built in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Fore River consists of two gas turbines and one steam turbine. Its three turbines can be operated with natural gas or oil. The plant will provide capacity for the New England region. Exelon Generation is based in Chicago, Illinois and owns roughly 4,400 megwatts of generating capacity.
