RES-Americas Purchases Wind Turbines for Texas Project
LCG, January 4, 2007--RES-Americas announced yesterday that it has ordered 26 wind turbine units for the Whirlwind Energy Center in Texas. The electric generating capacity of the turbines will total nearly 60 MW.
The power produced by Whirlwind Energy Center will be purchased by Austin Energy, which recently signed a long-term, power purchase agreement. RES-Americas plans to own a significant portion of the project and to operate the facilities.
The wind farm will be built this year in Floyd County, Texas. Siemens Power Generation will manufacture the 26, 2.3-MW turbines. On-site construction is scheduled to begin in March, with the facility completed by the end of 2007.
