LCG, February 20, 2026--The EIA today issued an "in-brief analysis" that estimates U.S. power plant developers and operators plan to complete a record installation of 86 GW of new, utility-scale electric generating capacity that is connected to the U.S. power grid in 2026. Last year, 53 GW of new capacity was added to the grid, which was the largest capacity installation in a single year since 2002. Thus the estimate of 86 GW of new capacity in 2026 is a whopping 33 GW greater than the year prior. It should be noted that over 20 GW of the 86 GW of new capacity this year is estimated to be completed in December.

UPC Wind Moving Forward with Wind Project in Maine
LCG, April 25, 2007--UPC Wind Monday announced that it is building support for its proposed Stetson Wind Project in Washington County, Maine. Community leaders are looking favorably on the project, which will bring jobs, revenues and 57 MW of clean, renewable electric generating capacity to the area.
The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission recently deemed the project's rezoning petition as complete, and a full review of the project by the Commission, including public hearings, will follow.
The proposed Stetson Wind Project consists of 38 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines.
UPC Wind is based in Newton, Massachusetts, with a number of projects in North America. Earlier this month, UPC Wind filed its site certification application with the Oregon Energy and Facility Siting Council to build the proposed Cascade Wind Project in Oregon. UPC Wind expects the 60-MW project to achieve commercial operations in 2008.
