LCG, October 16, 2026--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced on Thursday its new proposal to revise and accelerate its review of air quality effects for proposed natural gas projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The draft policy statement highlights revisions designed to (i) avoid unnecessary delays and duplicative analysis and (ii) deliver greater regulatory certainty and a streamlined path forward for project applicants.

LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

UPLAN Users United in San Francisco
San Francisco, March 18, 2008 -- In conjunction with the upcoming release of UPLAN-Altos, LCG Consulting hosted a users conference last week in San Francisco, California. The highly anticipated enhancements of the UPLAN software, which provides comprehensive planning facilities for analyzing many new issues facing electricity market participants, brought out a large number of attendees representing nearly 20 organizations. The conference offered all users, both old hands and beginners, a unique opportunity for networking and exchanging information on many new market developments.
Held at the Parc 55 Hotel near San Francisco's famed financial district, the two-day affair provided a forum for UPLAN users from various sectors of the industry to share their knowledge and experience. Various modeling applications were presented, including renewable portfolio evaluation, developing transmission projects, CRR auctions, ERCOT 5-year plan and regional market analysis. Representatives from LCG Consulting were on hand to present the new features of UPLAN-Altos, slated for release this summer.
The responses from the users were overwhelmingly positive. "It's great to know what others are doing with UPLAN. I was greatly stimulated. Also it's great to explore the possibilities of using UPLAN for what we currently don't. It's been a great opportunity for networking", responded an exited user.
