LCG, August 27, 2025--Wärtsilä Energy announced yesterday an agreement with East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to supply the engineering and equipment for a 217-MW power plant to be constructed in Liberty, Kentucky. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery in mid-2027, and the plant is expected to be commissioned in early 2028.

The MOU establishes a shared commitment to support advanced nuclear technologies to build Utah’s energy future and to prioritize reliability, economic growth and energy abundance.

State Senate Blocks Relicensing of Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station
LCG, February 26, 2010--The Vermont Senate voted 26-to-4 on Wednesday to prevent the relicensing of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The 605-MW, non-carbon emitting power plant is located in Vernon and owned by Entergy Nuclear, a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation.
The Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station began commercial operations in November of 1972, and the operating license will expire in March 2012. A license renewal application to extend the 40-year license for another 20 years was submitted by Entergy to the NRC on January 27, 2006.
