MidAmerican's Iowa Wind Farm on Schedule for Completion in 2011

LCG, July 28, 2011--MidAmerican Energy announced yesterday that construction of its 443.9-MW Rolling Hills Wind Project in southwest Iowa is on schedule to be completed by year-end. The Rolling Hills Wind Project is one of MidAmerican's three wind projects now underway in Iowa that will add a total of 593.4 MW of generating capacity. When the wind projects are completed, approximately 26 percent of MidAmerican Energy?s total generation capacity will be from wind turbines.

The Rolling Hills project includes 193 of Siemens' SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines, and the blades are manufactured nearby at Siemens' manufacturing plant in Fort Madison, Iowa. The project also includes approximately 37 miles of access roads and approximately 139 miles of underground wiring.

In December 2009, MidAmerican Energy received approval from the Iowa Utilities Board to add up to 1,001 MW of wind generation prior to 2013.
