LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

NRG Solar's 20-MW Project Commences Power Generation
LCG, September 1, 2011--NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc., commenced power production at its Roadrunner Solar Generating Facility, a 20-MW photovoltaic (PV) project built in southern New Mexico. The renewable power generated by the facility will be sold to El Paso Electric under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). NRG Solar started construction in December 2010.
The Roadrunner Solar Generating Facility is located on a 210-acre site about 10 miles from El Paso, Texas. The facility employs First Solar's thin-film PV modules, which are mounted on single-axis trackers to follow the sun throughout the day in order to increase power production. First Solar provided engineering, construction and procurement services and will also be the operations and maintenance contractor for the facility.
The President of NRG Solar stated, "On the heels of our recent commencement of operations at the Avenal Solar Generating Facility in California we now have our first solar facility operating in New Mexico, signaling that our diligent labors last year are starting to bear fruit."
New Mexico passed a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) in 2007 that requires investor-owned utilities (IOUs) to generate 20 percent of total retail sales from renewable energy resources by 2020, with near-term targets of 10 percent by 2011 and 15 percent by 2015. In addition, the RPS establishes a standard for rural electric cooperatives of 10 percent by 2020.
