LCG, October 23, 2025--Google announced today a first-of-its kind agreement to support a natural gas-fired power plant with carbon capture and storage (CCS). The 400-MW Broadwing Energy power project, located in Decatur, Illinois, will capture and permanently store its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. By agreeing to buy most of the power it generates, Google is helping get this new, baseload power source built and connected to the regional grid that supports our data centers.

Bechtel Completes Panda Temple I Generating Station in Texas
LCG, September 26, 2014-Bechtel announced yesterday that it has completed the 758-MW Panda Temple I Generating Station in Temple, Texas. Panda Power Funds is the owner of the natural gas-fired, combined cycle facility.
Panda Temple I Generating Station is one of four, gas-fired projects ERCOT forecast last May to be completed this summer to add a total of 2,112 MW of capacity to the grid.
Temple I Generating Station is designed for fast starts. The combustion turbines can synchronize in 10 minutes and reach full load within 30 minutes. The entire facility can reach full capacity within 60 minutes.
The facility incorporates a Siemens power island package, including the natural gas turbines, steam turbine and waste heat recovery boilers. Panda Power also plans to complete another combined cycle block, Temple II, that is scheduled to begin operations next year.
"Panda Temple I represents a tremendous team effort, including our consortium partner Siemens and Panda Power Funds, both of which worked seamlessly to bring the plant online early, which was important for our customer' and the community," said the president of Bechtel's thermal power business line. "We are pleased to have delivered a quality plant safely. As a result of a strong safety culture, the team worked the duration of the project without a single lost-time accident."
