The Energy Information Administration (EIA) adopts UPLAN for potential integration with its Short Term Energy Outlook
LCG, October 8, 2014 – The office of Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Department of Energy has acquired UPLAN Network Power Model for specialized electric modeling. EIA has also acquired the accompanying Plants, Loads, Assets, Transmission and Operations (PLATO) data models for the entire US electric system.
UPLAN Network Power Model (UPLAN-NPM) developed by LCG Consulting of Los Altos, California, is a chronological electric grid model that is used to perform detail transmission, generation and economic analysis. The EIA staff plans to use UPLAN-NPM for scenario analysis, discussion papers and today-in-energy analysis, and to evaluate UPLAN-NPM forecasts for potential future incorporation in the Short Term Energy Outlook for electricity generation modeling.
