Enel's 200-MW Goodwell Wind Project Now Delivering Power to Oklahoma
LCG, December 11, 2015--Enel Green Power (EGP) announced Wednesday that its 200-MW Goodwell Wind Project, located in the panhandle of Oklahoma, is now operational. The electricity generated by the wind farm will be bought under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP).
The construction of Goodwell Wind Project, which is owned by Goodwell Wind Project, LLC, a subsidiary of Enel Green Power North America, Inc. (EGPNA), is the result of a total investment of approximately $310 million. In July 2014, EGPNA signed a capital contribution agreement with a consortium led by J.P. Morgan to secure partial financing for the project.
EGP's CEO and general manager stated, "Oklahoma is one of the best places in the world for wind resources. The Goodwell facility is the fifth wind farm that EGP has brought into operation since entering the Oklahoma market in 2012. The project underscores EGP's ongoing investment in the state and in the U.S. renewable energy market."
The project was initially developed by Chermac Energy. Tradewind Energy acquired the project in August 2013 and completed all advanced development, including negotiating the PPA with AEP.
