EPA Proposes Rule Changes to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Requirements to Restore American Energy Dominance

LCG, April 10, 2026--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced yesterday a rule proposing several revisions to the federal regulations governing the disposal of coal combustion residuals (CCR) and the beneficial use of CCR. The EPA designed the rule to encourage resource recovery, allow for site-specific considerations in permitting, and provide regulatory relief while continuing to protect human health and the environment. ERCOT 2017 Spring Quarter Outlook

LCG, March 27, 2017--Earlier this year LCG Consulting published a first quarter (Jan – March 2017) study looking at how the ERCOT grid can cope with strained network conditions. LCG just released a new report that extends the analysis to the 2017 spring season (March through May). Weather is a key factor in considering resource adequacy for the region, and spring is a season that sees significant maintenance work before more extreme summer loading conditions.

This report examines a Base Case, A high Generation Outage Case, and a High Generation Outage/High Load Case. It discusses how prices vary between zones, and what kind of congestion and curtailment stakeholders can expect and where it can be expected.

LCG performed this study using 5-minute dispatch and its proprietary UPLAN Network Power Model. LCG has been modeling energy systems for more than 30 years and continuously sustains the most up-to-date information on every detail of the Texas grid, from minor and major transmission upgrades to gas prices and weather patterns.
