DOE Awards $126.6 Million to Carbon Sequestration Projects
LCG, May 7, 2008--The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) yesterday announced awards of over $126.6 million to two carbon sequestration projects designed to demonstrate the potential for permanent storage of over one million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in geologic formations. A critical goal of the DOE is to develop carbon sequestration capabilities that will better enable the long-term use of coal for power production while controlling CO2 emissions to address climate change concerns.

Duke Files Revised, Higher Cost Estimate for IGCC Project
LCG, May 2, 2008--Duke Energy yesterday submitted a progress report with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) regarding its 630-MW, coal-fired power plant project that will use an advanced, integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology.

WPL to Purchase 400-MW Wind Farm Site
LCG, April 24, 2008--Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp., announced Tuesday that it has signed a letter of intent with the Wind Capital Group, LLC to purchase the Bent Tree Wind Farm site in Freeborn County, Minnesota. The estimated potential generation for the site is 400 MW.
