LCG, May 7, 2026--PJM issued today its Summer Outlook 2026, which forecasts sufficient generation for typical peak demand this summer. PJM states that it is prepared to call on contracted demand response resources to reduce electricity use during times of high system stress.

LCG, May 6, 2026--Oklo Inc. ("Oklo"), an advanced nuclear technology company, announced today that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the Principal Design Criteria (PDC) topical report for the Aurora-INL (Idaho National Laboratory) nuclear small modular reactor (SMR), which is currently under construction in Idaho. The PDC topical report establishes a regulatory framework that defines the fundamental safety, reliability, and performance requirements to guide future reactor licensing and design activities, and the approved report should simplify future applications and reduce the need to re-review established material.

Susquehanna 2 Back On-line After Lengthy Refueling
LCG, April 24, 2001Unit 2 of the Susquehanna nuclear power plant owned by PPL Corp. near Berwick, Pa. was returned to service Sunday after a 43-day refueling outage, the company said yesterday.While the unit was down, workers replaced about 40 percent of its uranium fuel in 300 bundles of rods. About an eighth of the reactors control rods were also replaced. Control rods are made of a material that absorbs neutrons when inserted into bundles of fuel rods where a nuclear reaction is taking place, they capture neutrons that would otherwise continue to split atoms of fuel, thus controlling or shutting down the reaction.New steam turbines, which will replace units that have been in operation since the early 1980s, will be installed in Units 1 and 2 in the spring of 2003 and 2004 during refueling outages at the plant, adding 100 megawatts to the total output of the 2,200 megawatt plant.
