LCG, March 13, 2026--The Southwest Power Pool (SPP) announced yesterday that leaders from the participating organizations voted unanimously to proceed as planned with expanding its regional transmission organization (RTO) services into the Western Interconnection. SPP sees the decision to proceed as planned as a strong signal of confidence as SPP and its partner utilities prepare for this key milestone, which will occur overnight between March 31 and April 1.

LCG, March 6, 2026--Entergy yesterday announced approximately $5 billion in total savings for 2.3 million customers in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi resulting from data center customer agreements in those states. Entergy, which completed its first data center customer agreement in 2024, projects the customer savings over the next 20 years and after the regulatory approval or acknowledgement of the public service commissions in those states.

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy's ESBWR Passes Safety Review
LCG, October 28, 2010--GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) Tuesday announced that its Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) design passed a safety review conducted by an advisory committee for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). With the successful review, GEH is now positioned to proceed with design certification. GEH estimates that final NRC certification for the "Generation III+" reactor model could occur by next fall.
GEH submitted the design for the 1,520-MW, ESBWR design to the NRC on August 24, 2005, and the NRC accepted the application on December 1, 2005. GEH states that the design incorporates passive safety features and simplified construction and operation.
GEH and DTE Energy are working together towards the possible development of an ESBWR project adjacent to DTE's existing Fermi 2 nuclear plant, located south of Detroit, Michigan. The NRC is currently reviewing the combined license (COL) application for the proposed Fermi Unit 3, which was submitted by Detroit Edison (a subsidiary of DTE) in September 2008. DTE has not yet made a decision to proceed with construction of the new reactor.
