LCG, October 8, 2014 – The office of Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Department of Energy has acquired UPLAN Network Power Model for specialized electric modeling. EIA has also acquired the accompanying Plants, Loads, Assets, Transmission and Operations (PLATO) data models for the entire US electric system.

LCG Develops Prototype for Real-Time Remedial Action Screening

LCG, May 15, 2014-LCG Consulting of Los Altos, California has completed the development of a prototype that incorporates the basic functionality necessary to prove the effectiveness of the composite Lyapunov function-based transient stability analysis method. LCG has been working on a visual interface that will enable the operator to constantly monitor and analyze the status of the electrical network. With this interface, the operator can conveniently view data on a geographical map. The viewable data include phase angle, frequency, voltage at key substations along with power flows, overloads and other critical information on transmission paths and flowgates.

LCG Releases ERCOT Electricity Market Outlook for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017

LCG, January 11, 2013 –LCG Consulting (LCG) of Los Altos, California has released the electricity market assessment and forecast of ERCOT operations for the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. These reports are based on ERCOT SSWG transmission topology and UPLAN simulations using ERCOT nodal protocol. Hourly simulation results are also available for 2015 and 2017 using ERCOT Regional Planning Group’s transmission plan.

ERCOT System Adequacy Study

Southern's Kemper County IGCC Project Now Targets Completion in First Half of 2016

LCG, October 29, 2014-Southern Company announced yesterday further delays in the schedule to begin operations of its Kemper County coal project that is currently under construction by its subsidiary, Mississippi Power. A year ago, Mississippi Power announced the project should be completed in the last quarter of 2014. Yesterday's filing targeted the facility to be placed in service the first half of 2016.

Piedmont Natural Gas Obtains Approval from State Commission for the Proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline

LCG, October 28, 2014-Piedmont Natural Gas yesterday received regulatory approval from the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) for its affiliate agreements with the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP). Regulatory approval from the NCUC is necessary, as Piedmont Natural Gas is both a financial partner and a customer of the proposed natural gas pipeline. In addition, approval for the project will be needed from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
