LCG Develops Prototype for Real-Time Remedial Action Screening

LCG, May 15, 2014-LCG Consulting of Los Altos, California has completed the development of a prototype that incorporates the basic functionality necessary to prove the effectiveness of the composite Lyapunov function-based transient stability analysis method. LCG has been working on a visual interface that will enable the operator to constantly monitor and analyze the status of the electrical network. With this interface, the operator can conveniently view data on a geographical map. The viewable data include phase angle, frequency, voltage at key substations along with power flows, overloads and other critical information on transmission paths and flowgates.

LCG Releases ERCOT Electricity Market Outlook for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017

LCG, January 11, 2013 –LCG Consulting (LCG) of Los Altos, California has released the electricity market assessment and forecast of ERCOT operations for the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. These reports are based on ERCOT SSWG transmission topology and UPLAN simulations using ERCOT nodal protocol. Hourly simulation results are also available for 2015 and 2017 using ERCOT Regional Planning Group’s transmission plan.

ERCOT System Adequacy Study

LCG, September 20, 2012 - LCG Consulting (LCG) of Los Altos, California offers to evaluate the impact of the policy options proposed in the recent ERCOT system adequacy study. Minnesota Power Reaches Settlement Agreement with EPA Over NSR Allegations

LCG, July 17, 2014-Minnesota Power, a utility division of ALLETE, Inc., announced yesterday that it has reached a settlement agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to resolve alleged violations of the New Source Review (NSR) provisions of the Clean Air Act. The agreement does not include any admission of wrongdoing on the part of the company. Minnesota Power is one of many utilities in the U.S. whose investments in electric generation facilities were reviewed as part of the EPA's Coal-Fired Power Plant Enforcement Initiative that began in 1999 and resulted in over 25 related settlements.

MHI to Provide Carbon Capture System for Texas Project

LCG, July 16, 2014-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has received an order for a world's largest post combustion CO2 capture system for an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project in Texas. The MHI system will capture CO2 produced by an existing coal-fired power generation facility. The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016.
